SMALL BUSINESS INOVATIVE RESEARCH GRANT Awarded to Multi-Phase Technologies, LLC (MPT) in June 2002 for the development of a Magnetometric Resistivity (MMR) sensor and tool to complement their existing Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) equipment. The Grant will establish the feasibility of using coil sensors rather than electrodes for ERT monitoring deployments. Coil sensors detect the magnetic component of an electrical signal. They do no damage to landfill covers or liners. They may be deployed where traditional electrodes might otherwise disturb a particularly sensitive site. Magnetic coils may also be deployable in metal cased wells, an advantage that may significantly impact some existing monitoring and clean-up sites. |
